Coffee cup mock ups

I thought it would be fun to have different styles of coffee cups with alternate versions of the “seal” (I will make a post on these later). On the backside it would have the actual logo; It’s not illustrated here at the moment.

On the second one the background is made up of common sayings in spanish in different typefaces.

My boss/design mentor thaught me that when designing a logo it is better to start out with only black. That way you can see what works at it’s simplest level. I was never one to do this and would just start throwing colors and gradients and whatever in, but just to be safe and not waste time I am doing this “safe” method.
Once I reach a basic shape that I like I’ll go on to stylizing it with colors, texture or depth.  Im way behind on my schedule hopefully I’ll get this done this evening.

Logo in progress. Seeing as the plantation/hotel where the coffee is produced centers on the old fashioned lifestyle of the “jibaritos” so I wanted to bring some of that vintage feel to the design, also since this is a gourmet product I incorporated more ornamental elements to the typeface.
So far I like where it is headed but I’d like to evolve it into a stronger design that truly represents Casa Café.

This tumblr was made to document the design process for my graduate project. I will be re-designing the entire image for “Casa Café” a puerto rican franchise of coffeehouses.

Having a deadline of less than a month I hope to be able to do all of the work and polish every element to perfection and finally graduate.
